This is a true show stopper! The home owners asked me to make the mantel to hide an electric fireplace insert. The main section and over-mantel were built with plywood, the columns and hearth were cast in concrete, and the detailing around the firebox and Corinthian capitals were sculpted from cement. A faux finish was applied to create the look of sandstone. The real beauty of the fireplace is the fact that it is light-weight and portable.
